1986 740gle...last year re-wired the engine harness..easy enough..harness corroded by block. ruined new starter(any one who has the year given probly has had same prob).anyway,first? idle control valvemay have been trashed by harness short.what it does is starts good and maintains rpm of 1100,.idle adjust does no good. Disconnect control valve electrical and rpms drop down and can adjust idle screw but when u put in gear rpm will be very low almost stall...is control valve compromised?????..had a tune up 30 days ago,ignition control moduel,was the prob there $1100 in shop then i discovered BRICKBOARD...1 DAY TO LATE.someone discribed ignition control failure to the T.....NOW i had a problum with hot starts sence harness prob ,but when warm if i feather gas just right and run at a high rpm for 3 sec wil even out and run as a champ,if i forget to warm start just right,then she will only crank and no start.until i disconect the knock sensor will the start,reconect knock sensor,will loose power with out knock sencer....is knock sens faulty and can it be cleaned???? AND now as a result of being lasy and not starting my brick right. TRIED TO START IT WARM BY FLORING IT,WELL I GOT A BACK FIRE AND NOW I HAVE NO POWER,IDLES GOOD,OK IN NUTERAL REV'S GOOD BUT ,IN GEAR I HAVE LO POWER ,CAN GET UP TO 35MPH BUT IF I HAVE A HILL I HAVE LACK OF BALLS SO TO SPEAK..ON HWY IN A L3 GEAR I CAN GET HER UP TO SPEED FLORED,AND I CAN FEEL A BUCKING AS THE POWER TRIES TO COMEBACE AND GIVE ME TORQUE,SO I NEED SOMEONE TO TELL ME WHATS WRONG???
