73 140, safe to pull with tow bar 140-160

The bumper and its mounts are probably strong enough IF there is no rust in the area where they are bolted to the body, and the bumper itself is not corroded. Check everything carefully before you try it---you never know what you might find, like where a lazy previous owner changed the bumper and left off half the hardware.

The bumper is soft aluminum--easily marred.

If the car is an automatic, it is not a good idea to flat-tow it for any real distance (more than a mile or two) unless you disconnect the drive shaft at the rear flange and tie it up out of the way. If it's a plain 4 speed, just put it in neutral and you should be OK. Not sure about 4 speed + OD.

All in all, a tow dolly might be a better choice, though you will still need to disconnect the driveshaft if its an automatic. In theory, you could load it on the dolly backwards (front wheels on the ground) but unless you get the wheels locked exactly straight, it is likely to chew up the front tires.
