HELP! I found a '90 745 with a Fuel Pump Issue for sale for $800.... 700

So, I just came across with a very clean all around '90 275 with 145k for $800. The catch is that according to the owner, her "Volvo mechanic" said "fuel pump needs to be replaced".

My question is if indeed this is a fuel pump problem, what would it take to replace it? Hard? Easy? And what are the chances that this is just a dysfunctional pump relay problem and if so, how can I differentiate between those two problems. Or could it be something else all together?

The wagon is not currently running.

Thanks,
Toshi
