Father & Son's 142s Rebirth 140-160

Happy Holidays to all, I've followed this forum for years and i don't think I could have paid for a better education of these wonderful cars than I've gotten here. You guys really make this a great site.

This Summer My Son and I started on (2) 142's for His 16th birthday due in Sept. Both were running rough but running, After boiled gas tanks, new brakes and a lot of tuning we got them Drivable by his birthday. Although both 142's, they are quite diffrent:

Son's is a '72 - B18 W/ Su's and a M-40 4-speed, 160,000 miles, a little rusty. This b18, replaced before we got it, seems stronger than a stock motor but we have no idea what's in it. It's beginning to show signs of wear (Blue Smoke) and #4 plug fouling. The SU's came from a 122 and are running richer than i'd like, but still seem smooth. Besides all that It's holding up to a 16 yr old new driver. I don't know how long the old Generator's gonna last with this new Stereo Sub woofer in the trunk though.

Mine is a "68 - B18 W Strombergs and a BW 35, 69,000 miles, a rusty Suspension/floorpan/buttcheeks - IE (salty roads). This B18 purrs like a kitten, and the Automatic Clunks a little but it gets the job done. Brakes were the toughest on this one with all the rust, The E-Brakes are gone. All Bushing are cracked and squeaking. Still, this car drives great, cruises fine, although not quite geared for a Metro Interstate.

Now that we are into about 4 months of drivable cars, I'm looking into the next level of restoration.
Electronic Ignition at roughly $50 per car seems a no brainer. Luckily I have a lot of spares I've stockpiled but Fuel senders are almost impossible to find. Brake calipers are getting harder to find.
I can't imagine where I'd find a front vent window. Are there many 240 solutions for spares like the windshields are? Thanks for all your help, Greg
