84 240 Turbo Stuck Main fuel Filter bolt.

I should have not bought this car, but I did. So I have a used fuel pump/filter set-up that I want to put on. My girlfriends 240 GL came off easy with my air gun, bu this is different on the turbo. There is a small 1/4 inch hose that unscrews, that it attached to the filter with a coupling.. This is all I need to get the car running and I exhausted myself trying to get it off. Should I get a pipe wrench and try to take it off by hand, or should I cut the fuel line. I really do not want to replace the whole line, but I am at a total loss on how to remove the bolt. If I cut the fuel line, my fear is that it will be too short. It also seems as though the 1/4 inch line is pressed on really tight. Any help is of great thanks, and I am at my wits end.
