Carbon Brushes in Alternator 200 1991

This problem has been addressed in other threads.
I had the classic "dash idiot lights flicker on and off dimly during driving" problem at 370,000km. Barely 12 volt at the battery. I changed the rectifier/brush assembly in the Alternator. The one I bought was adjustable so I installed it cranked it to 14.2V at the battery and life is good. On engine install is handy too.

This week it starts again. 420,000km. Barely 12 volt at battery so i again yank the rec out and the brushes are worn. The lower brush is almost entirely worn and has signs of intermittent contact. (rough unpolished sections on the face of the brush rather than the glass like shine. but otherwise good.
My questions is left expectancy. I expected more than 50,000kms out of the replacement I installed. Thoughts anyone?
Commutator is smooth. no lips or ridges.
Bearings are good. No play.
Length of OEM brushes VS aftermarket?

400,000KM and still ticking
