BAD MECHANIC??--MISDIAGNOSIS??? 444-544 1962

Sorry to hear that there are still mechanics blowing smoke up peoples butts. What you should do is go to a better mechanic and have him tighten up the lash in the clutch linkage IE< no play and see if this improves you getting it in gear. If you still can't at this juncture then in fact there might be an inproper bearing in place and in fact the mechanic might be able to see if thats so, in which the trans will have to come out again. As some one else suggested you might have to do some research on what the proper bearing and clutch might be.
