Windshield Glass Light Scratches -- How To Remove ?? 200

Although not specific to 240 Volvo's : I noticed some very light scratches on my windshield glass. Embarrassed to admit I think I caused them last week while scraping off thin layer of ice. In any case is there any product that would work to remove them ? Or any reccomended procedure ? I tryed rubbing toothepaste over scratches. That did not work. I saw a product in Autozone where a buffing wheel attaches to your drill. I am hesitant to try that but maybe it is okay. I have but 2x Very light scratches that are parallel to each other, about a 1/2" apart, and of equal length(about 8"). Any & all help & advice with this are greatly appreciated. Happy & Healthy New Year to all.
