760 v6 - possible head gasket - any ideas 700 1989

Hi All,
Have a '89 760 gle v6. Needed to top up oil and noticed that breather was gunked up with brownish white crud. (well that explained the slow loss of coolent). Looked down the breather hole (where you pour oil in and did not like what i saw (rusty looking sludge). Car starts fine and runs fine

Oil on dip stick is clean. the question then is: do i have a blown headgasket or is there some other way that water is leaking into the RHS tappet cover i.e some heater pipe etc.(nothing obvious)

If it is headgasket, i understand that head will need to be replaced as it cannot be skimmed. Dont know availability of head and price.

looking for guidance on options ,costs etc

many thanks and happy new year

Alex
