Oil in the coolant on my 745 GLE

I am probably in denial, but. . . .

I own a new, to me, 1988 745 GLE that runs really well. But there is, for certain, oil in the coolant overflow bottle. There is a small oil leak around the head gasket to be sure but it really is prtty small. I have taken it to two Volvo service places and both have said, without too much hesitation, that I have a warped head and a non-sealing head gasket, probably due to overheating.

The top neck of the original raditor is broken but I have managed a tempory fix and it doesn't leak there any more, at least for the moment.

There is no cloudy oil visable on the oil dip stick, and the car runs very nicely; no hesitation, the slightest "ping" with regualr gas, good acceleration (well, good for a 4-cyl Volvo), and the car doesn't seem "sick."

My wife says no more money in a car with a blown head gasket, so I am avoiding replacing the radiator and have the car on Craig's List for a lot less than I paid for it I actually like this car pretty well; it has a nice body and all the electric gadgets work, probably a rarity in a car from '88. I'd like to keep this one going but can't see spending $2000 to fix the head. I am NOT an auto mechanic, so this isn't really a project car to me and I'll seek out a more mechanically sound 740 or 240 if this car will, indeed, die a violent death in the near future due to head issues. Just doesn't seem that way to me.

Anyone got any ideas on this? Thanks.

D.
