I went out and looked at Tom's 68 122 this morning considering the bids on it
were pretty low. I am not interested in buying it and only know Tom slightly
but felt that a bit more info might be helpful to prospective buyers and maybe
also to Tom.
As best I could read it the VIN is 133441 P 280190. The number on the plate
on the pedal box is 5250, 5371
The motor type is 496913 which is a B20B with a C cam, 118 HP
The head may be a B18 head. Not sure on this though. It has the cast arn
combined manifold with semicircular passages arching between the carb flanges
and the center. Carbs are not installed.
It is equipped with an aftermarket alternator.
The seat frames are the standard 2-door black ones as opposed to the fancy
chrome recliner models.
Rust is pretty bad in the driver's floor, the passenger side sill area below
the door and much of the front fenders. It does come with a pair of fiberglas
front fenders.
Seems to have the M40 tranny - I didn't look under the car but there is no
evidence of an overdrive.
While not an easily restorable car it probably has a lot of good usable parts and might be good in combination with another car to come up with a good usable
122. It DOES have the latest 122 suspension, which is probably a strong point
in its favor.
Hope this is helpful.
The powdercoated wheels look good but are the standard wheels, not the wide ones.
