940 cassette/radio into a 740 wagon? 700

I have a 940 cassette/radio that i want to put into a 740 wagon. The 940 radio fits, the antenna plug fits, the power square plug in radio to harness fits. My problem is the din plug on the back of radio from the 940 marked amplifier is a round opening, but the holes appear to be triangular. My din plug in my 740 that runs to the amp is same diameter but has round pins? Any thoughts? does this just plug in with some force or am i stupid here, and need an adaptor or something?

thanks for any help! kenzoil
