Good, no....wait...Bad Vibrations (Virgos?) 200 1984

A recent acquisition of 4 Virgos has now led to the hunt for a possible bent or unbalanced wheel.

I have an '84 245 (na) and tested out the new set of wheels/tires the other night. On a quick highway test drive the other night I was getting a pretty bad vibration at the rear. I figured one of those wheels back there must be unbalance or bent, so I threw on a pair of steel wheels on the back which I knew were good.

I then tested each of the virgos that were previously on the rear individually by putting them on the front of the car one-at-a-time. When I tested the wheels this way I expected to get a wobble or vibration on the front of the car, but I didn't. No vibrations.

The tires on the virgos are too small (195/60/15)...the wagon should probably have 205/65/15.

Is there something with the tire size creating this? Suspension?

Has anyone else had a similar experience with some conclusion?

Best wishes,
-Greg
