sunroof pan on an 88 745gle 700 1988

Sunroof assemblies are identical and interchangeable on sedans and wagons.

There are two types, early and late. I think they changed in 87. The difference is minor---stronger lifting arms in the mechanism. Early and late are interchangeable as complete units. Some of the component parts are not.

You can clean the front drain hoses from the top with the sunroof open. Snake them out with a long piece of wire. #14 insulated copper house wiring has about the right combination of stiffness and flexibility.

The hoses from the rear corners of the sunroof pan are best accessed from the lower end. They are about 3/4" in diameter, and pass through the rear side storage compartments and exit into the rear wheel wells. They often clog with debris right at the outlets. Find them and unclog them with the wire. If the rear drains are obstructed at the top, you may have to take the headliner pan out to clear them. You could try compressed air from the bottom end, but this will blast debris all over the place, and most of it will find its way back to the drains the first time it rains hard.
