A caution from Click and Clack

I caught that one on the sunday re-broadcast while I was out trying to trace why my signals work but my indicator light no longer does (it's not the bulb).

I'd say that Shannon hit the nail on the head as to why I've returned to a vintage volvo. A clogged $4.00 flame-trap coupled with my (at the time) ignorance of the system and over-trust on the local mechanics cost me my entire October 2004 Stipend when my rear main seal was blown... That's when I decided to get back into cars and get one that I'd always wanted - a 122S.

I'll reiterate my previous suggestion that we start putting all these hints and tips and sources and typical problems into an Amazon FAQ. I have just about all the books available, and I'm often stumped by something that the manual assumes I know already (finding the correct TDC for example). Haynes are good sometimes, but not always, and even the volvo greenbooks generally lack disassembly instructions among other bits that they assume we already know...

Still, a sound request. Know your car like your right arm.
