Crankcase cleaner 200 1978

Hi-
I have a 78 245 B21F wagon that just rolled 130k. This gem sat in a field for about six years non running. I've had it on the road for about 13 months now and it runs great. I've done regular oil changes using a NAPA 10/30 oil with a volvo filter. I noticed looking in the oil filler tube on top of the valve cover that it looks a bit dirty. Definitly some black build-up around the cam shaft.
I have used a BG product in the past a few times to clean the crankcase but it still looks dirty inside. A suggestion was brought to me to drain the oil, leave on the oil filter and fill the crankcase with four quarts of diesel fuel and ONLY IDLE the engine for about 20 minutes, drain, put on new filter and fresh oil and go.
Will this diesel idea harm my nice brick or does anyone have a really good crankcase cleaner they use.
Any feed-back would be GREAT!
