Voltage output 200

I installed a Volvo voltmeter in the old girl on Monday evening. I used the tab on fuse 13 for the voltage pickup. I noticed yesterday morning that the output is very close to the red area signalling a high charge rate. The meter only shows 10 volts and 16 volts. I did notice that the gauge would drop when a load is applied (turn signal, lights, blower fan etc.) Is it normal for the Bosch alternator to have an output in the 14 volt+ range, or is it showing me that the initial charge from the voltage regulator is high after starting, or is the voltage regulator/rectifier bridge starting to go bye-bye?

Bill
