After fuel line fix and in-tank pump fix runs only a few seconds 200 1988

This is on my son's car. Ran for 10 seconds at one point after fix. Most starts runs 1-3 seconds. In-tank pump was not working before replacement(wiring was totally rusted apart). Replaced leaking 6-9? inch metal section of fuel line (the OD was the same, the ID a little smaller). I have a fuel pressure injection testing kit that I borrowed from a friend but don't I have to test after the FPR? And the kit I have fits into the rubber hoses. Can I test in front of the FPR? What could cause this not to run from merely replacing a few inches of fuel line? The in-tank pump wasn't working anyways. Thanks for ideas/suggestions!
