What did I break? 200

I was swapping in a used engine into my '91 240 a few weeks ago. The transmission (auto AW-71) was about an inch from being flush with the rear of the engine, so I put in the bolts and started tightening it down. I really knew better than to do this. Upon getting it back in the car I noticed that the engine wouldn't spin by hand. I pulled everything back out and now the engine will spin with the transmission removed. Also, the problem now is that the torque converter won't pull off of the input shaft on the transmission. It slides toward the end to a certain point, but won't come off. Any idea what kind of damage I did to this thing? I was just in a hurry but now I wish I would have been more careful putting the engine/trans together.

Thanks in advance!
Dave
