Dash light pointers? 200 1989

Hello Pearl,

Do any of the following lights work?

(1)LF parking light
Yes --> power from the light switch to the fuse block is OK. Go to (2)
No --> Check supply side of fuses 15 & 16. Power there?
Yes --> Problem is at the fuse block; check F15 & F16 and associated connections.
No --> Got headlights?
Yes --> The problem is between the light switch and the fuse block.
No --> We're troubleshooting the wrong problem. Fix the headlights.

(2)RF parking light
Yes --> Fuse F16 is good, go to (3)
No--> Does the LF parking light work?
Yes --> Problem is at the fuse block; check F16 for power and continuity.
No --> Go back to (1)

(3)Gear position indicator, seat belt light & Ashtray light
Yes --> Power to the rheostat verified. Go to (4)
No --> Check the bulbs. If OK there is an open in the wiring between F16 and the rheostat.

(4)Jumper from WHT-RED wire on terminal 58b to BRN wire on terminal 58a at the back of the rheostat. Got Dash lights? If so, the rheostat is bad. If not, the bulbs, wiring to the bulbs, or the ground connection for the bulbs is bad.

Hope that helps. Also, you might want to visit the site below and grab a copy of the schematics there. Way easier to read than the Bentley. The 240 diagrams are at the bottom of the page.
