Loud In tank Prepump 200 1989

Just replaced the fuel sending unit and the in-tank pump. Bought both from FCP groton. The new pump is LOUD! My brick is a station wagon which means there is not a lot of stuff between the tank and the inside of the car to dampen noise, but still this thing is rediculously loud. I read old posts that the pumps are loud but I can't imagine you have to drive around with the radio basting to maintain sanity. Has any one else had this problem recently?
