New 740 non-turbo owner! 700 1987

Hi all!

I've been lurking for a while, as I did research on a '87 740gle that I ended up buying as a 'student transportation' vehicle for my last year as an undergraduate.

It's great, and clean inside the engine compartment, but I had a few questions that the previous owner could not answer. If you folks could help, I'd really appreciate it.

It has aftermarket 15" rims and the 195's that I've read are more 'appropriate' for a turbo. I thought these cars had 14" rims.

I hear a slight clunk in the front passenger side, only when going over a rough patch in my dirt driveway. Might be related to a front passenger side rim that's very slightly bent (which also puts the steering out of alignment by 1 degree or so).

I have a bulb warning light on the dash that lights and remains lit when I turn the headlights on, but I don't think any of the front or rear lights are out.

It sat for 3-5 months in the winter elements before I bought it, so the battery needed some TLC (lots of gunk on the battery posts, keeping the alternator from re-charging it). The original tires were scary, so I got new ones immediately - a much smoother ride! Starts in 14-degrees cold, too.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

Ari
