I've finally begun the process of swapping out the side-marker reflectors on my 68 sedan for the lighted side-markers from a 1971 1800E. The lenses are identical, but I've always preferred the added safety of corner lights on such a small dark-colored car.
I plan to just piggy-back the rear lights to my tail lights. I've already drilled the quarter-panels and and mounted the new bulb housings and am ready to attach the wiring. Looking at the wired to the tails, I see a red and a white wire for the tail/brake lights. To which of these wires should I attach my new side-markers? I can probably figure it out with a multimeter if nobody knows right off.
I have not yet moved to the front lenses, but I will do so tomorrow if the weather is good.
I'm a little torn about whether I should piggy back the front side-markers to the turn-signals or to the clearance lights in the front. I can probably figure out those wires quite easily, but I was wondering if I can do both? Lighted side-marker, but also flashing when I indicate a turn? If I can't do both, what are the opinions on which is better? I'm leaning towards the side-marker only, as this was the configuration on the 1800E.
