240 Jack Points Reference (w/pics) - Really? 200

Hi Rich;

I have a Swedish repair book for the 240 cars, published by Volvo, where they actually state with picture and text that the front crossmember is a suitable lifting point. They also refer to "the rear axle" but not specifically the pumpkin.

Personally I occasionally lift the car by the crossmember. I did put the garage jack under the pumpkin once. Never, never again. Explanation and gory details to be found here:

Scanned from Volvo's repair book I mentioned:

(Translation: "Suitable lifting points besides the jacking points are the front cross member, lower control arms, rear axle and trailing arms.")

Regards,
Erling.
