Front carpet removal? 900 1994

The only section of carpet that isn't going to clean up on this car is (of course) the driver's footwell.

I haven't looked yet but I am assuming that the front carpet is one piece to cover both sides... or not?

If it is one piece I plan on cutting it under the console and pulling that section out and cleaning it and then slipping it back in.

Any reason that won't work?
