'97 960 rear brake lights working intermediately S90-V90

Hi guys, long time no post ;) My '97 960 has 125k on her and has been a true jewel (bought her at 90k two years ago).

However, today I noticed the rear brake lights work intermitently. If I press on the brake pedal, 3 out of 20 times, the brake lights won't fire. I've tried to listen for the brake light switch to fire, but just can't detect it. I do hear the neutral safety switch engaging ------- but if I lightly depress/let off the brake pedal, the brake lights don't come on about 10-15 percent of the time).

What do you guys think? Failing brake light switch? I couldn't find the answer in the FAQ. I tried looking up where the brake pedal was --- not much luck seeing a switch. Many thanks!
