Exhaust Question

It has been cold where I live. Real cold—the high today was 6. My beloved 940 has been starting up admirably. A few occasional misfires on the interstate, but overall, despite 15MPG, it is doing okay.

One item that I have begun to wonder about is why my 940 has more visible exhaust than other cars while idling or in early gears. It is nothing alarming or for concern. I’m wondering why this is. In my observations, it appears that older cars have more visible exhaust than newer cars. Could someone answer why this is?

Regards,
Jeff
