Hello all. Just a quick note to update you on the status of my '58 444 restoration. As you might already know, this was my father's Volvo which he bought from the first owner back in the 70's. I grew up with the car in the garage and can remember "driving" it if only in my mind. The car never left the garage - it was dad's little escape. He did manage to get the gearbox fixed and engine rebuilt, however, passed away in '94 so did not get to finish the restoration. The car went up to my cousin Joe in NJ in '94 where it stayed for about 11 years as I got settled down in VA. In '05 Joe asked if I wanted my car back and I have been working on restoring her ever since.
Anyway, the engine compartment is complete and the hood is on. The chrome is at the plating shop (Royal Silver in Norfolk) and I have been working on the flooring. I have all the window seals ready to go. I hope to be finished with the car by late spring/early summer, all ready for the VCOA National Meet at Eurofest '08 in SC. Wish me luck!
Check out my site (http://www.scarolas.com/58VolvoPV444/) for details on the restoration if interested.
Regards,
