740 front pipe joint 700

My '92 740 is blowing at the front pipe to cat converter joint. This is a flanged joint. The front pipe nds in a bell end which is retained tight to the gasket by a 3-bolt loose flanhe, which has rotted away. The pipe end seems OK The muffler shop is bent on replacing the whole pipe at about 300 bucks/ Is there no way to just replace the flange ?
