distributor shaft alignment for correct timing? 200 1993

Hi Volvoers, I am in need of a little help.

I was cleaning the B230 block and took out the distributor shaft to make it more roomier. I didn't think to make marks to align the shaft's teeth back to its correct place. As far as I could see, there are no factory markings similar to what is found on the cam, intermed. and crank shafts. When I put the dist. shaft back on, the car won't start up.

The car I am working on is '93 240.

Any tips? I did read some old postings about setting the #1 piston to TDC and turning the rotor to #1 spark. That was for older Volvos, so would it still apply to '93? Thanks!
