recprocating saw for exhaust cutting?

I have to remove the cat converter from my 745. As seems common, the flanges and bolts which attach it to the headpipe are severely rusted.
I was thinking of buying a recipricating saw with a metal blade to cut the bolts.
Anyone ever done this? Recommendations for brand of saw and blade.
I really hope I can do this without replacing the headpipe, which I have had to do in the past simply because the flange is rusted.
