Cheap, reversable way to stiffen springs 200

Been thinking about stiffer springs lately, buy I do NOT want my car lower to the ground and all the "sport springs" are also lowering springs. I don't know enough about spring rates and diameters to find some that would give me stock height, so I thought, "Why not get lowering springs and then slide a poly spacer under it?"

So in looking to see what was available, I found these:

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/tf-Browse/s-10101/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2005889/p-2005889/N-111+10201+600003419/c-10101

Would these spacers (or something similar) work to stiffen the stock springs by twisting them between a couple coils so as to effectively disable or bottom out part of the spring? Similar to spring clamps, but without the lowering or the harshness? That would give me stock height, stiffer springs - and all for $20 or so.

Anyone?
