240 McGard secure nut problem with 940 alloys 200 1986

all,
i've put some nice 940 wheels on my 240. i bought the 200 series mcgard locknuts for security.

problem:
the locknuts are a little too long for the 940 cap to attach to the wheel. the cap doesn't seat all the way--it sticks out and i'm afraid the cap will spring off over the first major bump in the road.

any suggestions?

change the lug to 12 mm and get the 900 series locknuts?

thanks again,
byron golden
