Wife's '89 244 has odd problem and I can't find my Bentley manual. When car warms up, driving home, it downshifts into 3rd, and amber upshift arrow comes on. Button on gear selector fails to shift back to OD. Shut car down, wait a while, works fine. She was taking it to see her mother tomorrow, 200 freeway miles, and it seems silly to send her in this car if she ends up driving most of the way locked in OD.

I'm suspecting a wiring glitch but don't know where to look. I am not sure a bad OD relay would do this. Anyone know?

For reference, seems the OD relay is inside dash, left of glove box, accessable when glove box is entirely removed. Correct? How is the OD relay recognized? (compared to other similar looking relays in that same area)
