Australian engine identification 200 1981

Greetings from Downunder!

3 or so years ago I bought a 245 manual wagon (81) on ebay here in Melbourne which has a B21 of some sort (Obviously) but it has issues, blown head gasket and extensive mucking about with the injection so recently I bought another 245 (79 model this time) for bits but I suspect it has a B23 as I was told it had a much later (Low friction?) engine in it however both have mechanical injection (I think).

Ive recently been looking at her again and beginning work to get her on the road and Id rather have a B23 than the B21 as im told they better adapt to Unleaded fuels than the earlier engines and I really dont want to do headwork on the B21.

So how do I tell the engines apart?

Cheers,

Tony
