Unless this is some sort of huge coincidence (or maybe my head really was the problem, there's no clear evidence of it)

I used to do it the "phil" method and it had never given me an engine that sounded this smooth.

In fact, I tried the phil method right before decided to swap the head and it gave me quite a bit of noise. Again, maybe I had been doing it wrong - but that method is pretty straight foward.
