Installing a 960 Coolant Reservoir in a 740 or 760 700

I've installed Coolant Loss Sensors in our cars. In one car I had trouble with the float degrading and failing to indicate coolant loss. That cost me a headgasket on my wife's car. I installed a 960 Coolant Reservoir on my wife's car. The 960 Coolant Reservoirs have a float switch and wiring. 940s don't have the Coolant Loss Sensor, so don't get a 940 Coolant Reservoir. The first thing you have to do is find a 960 in the self serve wrecking yard and remove the Coolant Reservoir, and it's mounting bracket. You'll need a battery drill to drill out the two spot welds holding the bracket to the chassis.

On the 1986 745T I removed the stock brackets for the Coolant Reservoir and made a bracket from a flat piece of aluminum. The hole, drilled in the 960 bracket when you remove the lower spot weld, should be used to mount it to the plate on the chassis. Drill the top hole to match. The pictures should be self explanatory. You must use a low profile screw for the top mount. See the Phillips head screw. The Coolant Reservoir won't slide past a 10mm bolt head.

I connected the wiring from the 960 Coolant Loss Sensor to the stock wires (only on the 1986 North American Market 740), and the Coolant Loss light in the panel works fine.
