1987 240 wagon 5th or button fifth? 200

I cant remember what year volvo came with the actual fifth gear instead of o/d orlittle green five in dashboard. I am considering getting a 240 wagon from eighty seven thats totally what I want but am somewhat apprehensive as to which it has. I have all three kinds the o/d sucks generally especially if its an 86 automaticbut I had the eighty five with the green five in the dash the function only worked when the car was good and warmed up however I have seen manual fifth on a few but cant recall the year so... my question is what can I expect....
