86 245DL Idiot light, the saga continues 200 1986

Learned more about the instrument cluster today that I really want to know.

Here is the deal, No idiot lights at all in when you turn the key to II. The OD light comes one, the high beam light works, but all the bulbs on the light check are dark. The Speedo, Tach, Gas, and Temp Faker are all working. Checked the voltage regulator, replaced with an extra, same problem.

Tried the spare instrument cluster out of a 87 Sedan and same problem. Did get the speedo in that panel fixed but not fixing my problem. So if I can read the Bentley fine print I am pretty sure the Bulb Out Relay is part of the sequence. When you go to II the relay pulls in a ground that should light up the Bulb Failure, the Oil Pressure, Alt, Brake, and Parking Brake lights. When you start the car the relay should drop the ground and that should enable the lights and cause the alt to start charging.

Has anyone had this problem? Going to a PUP and pull a relay tomorrow on the way home. Also will check and make sure that the ground going to the relay is making good contact.

Any guidance is as always greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Paul
