Will no pressure in system cause damage to my cooling system? 200

I will replacing my waterpump sometime this week. It is slightly leaking from behind the fan/pulley, and trickling down the back of the pump itself. However, the cooling system itself has no pressure whatsoever. I have to refill the coolant reservoir every other day or thereabouts. The engine doesn't get hot, it remains 1/4 to 1/2 way in temps according to the temp gauge. Upon loosening the reservoir cap, I have no pressure at all. The hoses themselves do show the least bit of pressure. Will a no pressure in the system cause my engine harm? Thanks in advance!
