hesitation 900 2003

Hello folks,
Have a 1993 940T and I had a leak from the area around my fuel filter. I replaced the filter and no more leak but now I have a new problem. The engine idles fine but when I try to accelerate the engine seems to be starving of fuel and hesitates badly. It does finally get up to speed but takes a while.

I have never replaced any of the fuel pumps or fuel relays and the car has 240k on it.
Anyone know what seems to be the problem ?
Thanks,
