god awful noise after brake replacement 200 1986

friend of mine has a 245 turbo, which is rapidly becoming my other car.
I did rear and front brakes this a.m. as he said the rear brakes sounded like they were metal to metal.
The pads were seriously worn but had not scored the rotors.
So he calls me at work telling me it's worse. I went- by after work this evening and sure as anything the l/f groans and growls like anything, with quite a bit of pedal play.
I looked around and the rotor still feels smooth, I was expecting something carving trenches in them. Any bright ideas?
I will have the car again Thursday morning, and will take a better look and maybe bleed the brakes and replace the fluid.
Are you sure no one wants that trannny for a 164? I may have to buy a 164 just to have something to put it in, so I can get it out of my garage.
Thanks as always
Paul
