B230F Camshaft oil seal leak symptoms ? 900

Recently my 93 940 wagon (about 190K miles) with B230F started leaking oil from the front of the cylinder head. The leak seems to be coming from behind the top part of the back timing cover. Oil drips onto the top of the boss in the head that holds the timing cover bolt - next to the front of the exhaust manifold.

I removed the upper timing cover and expected to find oil on the back cover behind the camshaft pulley - no oil there. However the inside surface of the camshaft pulley had some oily gunk on it, and there was some oil on the timing tensioner spring. The valve cover gasket is not leaking.

Do these symptoms point to the camshaft oil seal ? I dont think it has ever been replaced. The leak started suddenly and is very obvious. There is noticable dripping if the engine is started and run for only 5 minutes. Any other possibilites ? Im hoping it is not some other problem with the cylinder head.

Thanks,

Mike
