I just got my 444 project back on the road and had performed a front wheel disc brake upgrade as per the detailed article that has been floating around on the internet for a long time. I think I got it from Bearman's sight several years ago. It is an excellent step by step with pictures and was very helpful.
My question is this: The article illustrates moving the shocks around to the front, and producing an offset bolt to mount the shock in the front. I did this, with the front end on the bench as per the article. When I got under the car today I noticed that one of the shock mounts had pivoted up. They are a taper fit and able to rotate now due to the offsetting of the new front mount. The more I looked at it, the less reason I see for offsetting it. I don't see any clearance issues anywhere. I'm not sure why this was even necessary.
Anybody have any insight on this?
