3,000rpm to zero back to 3,000 200 1989

Hi,

Car runs about 3,000 rpm, will lose power, tack will be at 0, I feather the gas and it comes back up, don't know if coincidence or what. Most the times it doesn't completely stall out but has a couple of times. Car is Automatic.
I replaced timing belt and tensioner, fuel filter. Wires, distributor cap rotor.

Code reads rpm signal missing, Haynes and Bentley books don't go into detail as to what it is. I have a 89 out back but manual tranny for parts.


Any suggestions apprecialted
