Q: Need a quick temporary solution for a leaky intake manifold gasket 200 1989

My vehicle has a small leak in the intake manifold at cylinder # 1. When the engine warms the gasket expands and the leak virtually stops. But it runs rough. I plan on replacing the gasket, but I don't have time to do it right now, so, I need a quick fix until I can get to it. I have dripped small amounts of Bar's Leaks Rear Main Seal leak stopper on the edges of the gasket, and it seems to have done the trick to some extent. It has stopped stalling. But the rough running is still there.

So, considering all the variables, is it better to torque down the manifold nuts when the engine is cold or to let it warm up before I do that? ... or should I loosen the nuts first, before I retorque them, and if so, when should it be done, warmed or cold?

Anyone know of any good tricks to seal up the leak for awhile. My biggest concern is the rich running due to the leak.

Thanks,
diyer
