Dropped the 940 off at an indepandant mech. today with a laundry list of concerns. 900

the guy is supposed to be very good at what he does from the different volvo people I have talked to while I searched for my 740/940 wagon.

I found some wires near the coolant resevior that appear as if the black plastic protective sleeve was chewed through by mice and some of the individual wires bundled in that collection were beginning to be chewed on, there was some exposed copper. I am curious if tape will be sufficient or if a cut n splice would be more benefitial.

the car pulls to the right but it did just have some lower front end parts replaced and a steering ujoint done also, but passenger side has lots of bounce and it corners much differently when turning left than it does when turning right the faster you go, so something is shot, spring or cartridge.

I am having him give me a price on buying a new driver door if he deems the rust along the bottom of the door to be unsalvageable and a passenger mirror due to the current one not defrosting.

the exhaust is also a bit loud so it will be interesting to see how much that will be.

I am hoping to find out from this fella if feels the undercarriage is suitable for a functional resore of the car or if he finds it would make a better drive cheap until it breaks type of vehicle

so far I love the wagon, it is as functional as I had hoped, even tho it is a NA engine it is a pleasure to drive. the cruise works, the heated seats kick butt, I love the drivers mirror defrost and the lumbar support, the dog likes the sunroof,,.. great car.

I bought it for 1300. if the undercarriage is solid enough and the suspension upgrade, new parts, labor and installing the cd player can be done for 1200 or less I think this car is going to be a swindle for 2500 'sh bucks.
