What do you think of Bar's Leaks products? 200 1989

I purchased some Bar's Leaks Rear Main Seal leak stopper, assuming my vhicle has a rear main seal leak. The stuff is a thick yellowish green liquid, and looks just like STP. I wouldn't put STP in my engine, but Bar's has a much better reputation then STP does. In fact, many of the OEM's use Bar's products on the production line, as a preventative. I got verification of that fact.

I used some Bar's cooling system sealer and it worked great on a small annoying leak and has been quite benign not causing any other problems. That was a few years ago and the leak has not come back. At any rate, I'm still not so sure I would use this product, i.e., engine sealing!? Whan I tried to get a definitive answer from their tech rep/customer service, Bob M, he refused to explain how the product was able to fill in a worn crankshaft groove and not clog up oil pump groves. Of course he had no logical answer to that ... and even seemed annoyed that I asked the question ... all Bar's Leak people could say was: "Trust us!" I mean I wasn't looking for any proprietary info, I'm just a little'ol shadetree.

The top of my bell housing area is all black and completely covered from oil deposits. The rear cam seal is not leaking. There is some wet oil around the corner of the valve cover gasket, but nothing major, not running or dripping. A leaky vavle cover gasket would explain the oil being on top of the bell housing, but if the major leak was a rear main seal, how would the oil get on top of the bell housing ? Your thoughts?
