Crank pulley fell off 200 1986

So today the car became difficult to steer, the instrument cluster lit up and was overheating...The car was limped home at 30mph and the troubleshooting began.

First I was stumped as I couldn't understand the relationship between the brake failure light, the heavy steering and the overheating. Then the thought occured to me to check the belt routing, perhaps the water pump ceased up, and the alternator stopped charging and the power steering slowed down.

Well when I turned the fan to rotate the I noticed the crank pulley was sloppy as hell, turn the bolt out by hand and the pulley just fell off.

Shouldn't the crank pulley be pressed onto a woodruff key? What is fixing this problem going to be like? Will it be as simple as putting a new woodruff key in and pressing the new crank pulley on, or is the end of the crank going to be mangled and require more work than I want to hear about?

thanks
