VDO Gauges, what sizes fit the 240? 200 1986

The year is 1986, the car is a 245DL with 230K miles and a new Dancing Moose 200K miles sticker in the back window. Couldn't help it when ordering a Swamp Cooler and new window strips from Mr Barton the other day.

The voltmeter mounted in one of the side mounts is getting slow to respond to changes. Very slow in fact and is used to be a jumpy little thing. Now it slowly gets there, did tell me the alternator was not being charged the other day. But it time for a new gauge most likely. I did check the connections with a VOM and it is the old gauge that is the problem. The face is a little yellow and it's new companion oil pressure gauge is all new and unfaded. So the grass is getting greener on the other side of the fence.

During my quest for the dual five bar oil pressure sending unit found egauges. Thanks to the BB for that pointer by the way. If you were to be tempted to purchase a new voltmeter without the Volvo name on the face. What series most closely matches the ones in the 240? The Cockpit black or the Vision seems to be the closest match just a glance of the face of the meter.

But what is the closest match to the Volvo face plate units and has anyone taken the leap? And if you did what did you get and what do you think about it.

Regards,

Paul
